Passing your Driving Test should be a consequence of learning safe driving, and not your ultimate goal.

Once you learn how to drive safely, courteously and appropriately, your Driving Test will just become a formality you have to go through to become a Qualified Driver.

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) suggests that before applying for a Driving Test on average a new Learner learning to drive should:
● have approximately 30 / 40 hours driving tuition with a qualified Driving Instructor
● have ideally another 20 / 30 hours private practice (e.g. with family, etc.)

The first step towards becoming a Qualified Driver should be to pass your Theory and Hazard Perception Test.
● It is recommended you apply for your Theory Test soon after you start your driving lessons.
● When appropriate, we should aim to carry out a Mock Test which I will carry out for you at no extra costs to you. During the Mock Test we will aim to replicate as much as possible a Driving Test that a DSA Examiner may conduct. The Mock Test will help you familiarise with typical driving test conditions you are likely to experience on your Big Day!
After the Mock Test, depending on the outcome, we can then decide to either:
a) book a Driving Test, or
b) plan some more lessons as may be required.
